Missons and Outreach
Worship IS Mission and Outreach (Romans 12:1-2)
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ - Matthew 25:40
Below are some of the local missions that Harvest supports as well as some international missionaries.
Miracle Hill (Shepherd’s Gate)
Shepherd’s Gate is a safe emergency shelter for women and mothers with young children. It provides food, shelter, clothing and compassion for those experiencing homelessness. The Crisis program provides short-term services for guest who desire only temporary shelter. In-depth services are provided through the New Life Program for those who seek more comprehensive care. With the help of counselors and case managers, they aim to move guests toward stability and healthy relationships. In partnership with New Horizon Family Health Services, they provide respite care beds for those experiencing homelessness who have been released from the hospital with special medical needs and have no other place to recover safely. At Harvest, we periodically collect needed supplies for their shelter.
Front Porch Housing
A three-year supportive housing program designed to help individuals and families in need build a firm foundation with the goals of continued sobriety, gainful employment, financial independence, and spiritual maturity. We partner with community sources such as Miracle Hill, Renewal, Jasmine Road, The Phoenix Center, Serenity Place, and more.
Operation Christmas Child
The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world at Christmas. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations. Every year, Harvest members commit to packing shoeboxes that are filled with the love of Christ through small gifts that do a BIG work of love in a child’s heart!
Upstate Backpack Blessings
Sadly, many children in Greenville Co. schools do not have sufficient food to eat when home from school on the weekends. Therefore Upstate Backpack Blessings works with local school counselors to identify children in need. And then, this volunteer-based, donation-driven charity provides supplemental food bags via the school for the kids to take home so that they can eat. Harvest supports this ministry by donating financially and by collecting food and bags.
Zach and Noelle Slagel (Albania and soon to be in Cambodia)
Harvest is both a financial and prayer partner of the Slagel family who were leading an Anglican house church in Albania alongside another family (Zach is an ordained priest in our Diocese). This ministry gives them the opportunity for pastoral care and counseling with individuals and families serving in vital roles in the Balkan countries. They are on their way to Cambodia in 2025 for the foreseeable future to help in the Diocese there.
Zach also provides soul care and pastoral ministry to other workers. Noelle is helping homeschool their children, beginning language study, and providing counseling as the Lord leads.
Steve Hendrix (Tanzania)
Harvest supports Steve Hendrix through prayers and giving as a full time missionary with Blessed2BlessU Ministries, Inc. Steve is currently a missionary engineer at the Tumaini Evangelistic Pre & Primary English Medium School in Kiruani, Tanzania. He lives on site with the local teaching staff and assists with school operations as well as working with contractors to drastically improve living conditions and to complete and maintain school buildings.
