There is a great illustration about the current trends in modern church membership culture. Sadly, it shows how many churchgoers consider the church to be like a cruise ship or a country club to join—a place where all of their consumer needs are expected to be met, and when they are not met, they jump “ship” to another church. However, the church is supposed to be a completely different kind of community—one that sacrifices and truly cares for one another in Christ-like love (sacrificial love). It’s not a country club. While hospitality is a huge priority for Harvest Anglican Church (and we definitely want you to feel at home and find rest)… at the end of the day, we are a battle ship whose captain is the LORD! God has a mission for every baptized believer—because if you are now in Christ, then you have the presence and power of the Holy Spirit living in you, and a Spiritual gift to use for God’s glory and to the building up of his holy Church.
Like anywhere, Harvest is not a perfect church and we are not perfect people until we see Jesus face-to-face, but we still serve and glorify a perfect God! And so, we will all seek (clergy AND members alike—by God’s grace) to provide every person a place of belonging, care, love, service and accountability. Therefore, to be a member of Harvest is to make a public promise to strive to live your life in accordance with the Scriptures and to support the mission and ministry of the Church--which is the body of Christ.
To learn about membership, you are invited to meet with the pastor and to participate in the next Harvest Life Class (offered once a quarter for 4 Sundays before worship) where we will get to know each other in a casual setting and learn about who we are as a church and what our mission is. We also offer 2nd Sunday Lunches every month after worship where we can talk about membership, Confirmation and Reception, and Harvest (in general) around the table with some great food. We hope that you will pray about taking your faith to the next level and becoming a member of Harvest! If you are interested, you can FILL OUT A MEMBERSHIP FORM.
